Nec e373 review
Network and connections
Nec E373 is classified as a GSM Tri-Band type cell phone: it is able to handle three different frequencies: 900, 1800 and 1900 Mhz. The phone is also Dual-Mode: it has UMTS support, for making video calls and connecting to the internet at high speed. This latter technology is added to the slower EDGE and GPRS. The phone also has a USB port that allows it to be connected to a computer via cable. Unfortunately, it lacks Bluetooth and does not allow the use of dedicated wireless accessories. The battery is good.
Design and features
Nec E373 is a cell phone belonging to the so-called "clamshell" family, meaning it has a shell-type opening. It has a very simple design, playing on the squared shape, with pointed corners in contrast with the round keys. This model is completely black and does not have an external secondary display; in its place instead there is the camera and a 12-color LED. On the inside is the larger screen.
Main features
During a call it is possible to switch to hands-free mode thanks to the built-in speaker. Nec E373 also offers the possibility of making multi-conference calls, that is, communicating with several cell phones connected simultaneously. Unfortunately, the voice recorder is missing, while the very useful alarm clock and calculator functions are, as always, present. As for messaging, Nec E373 makes use of Sms, Mms and E-mail, all easily composed thanks to the T9 quick writing software. Finally, worth mentioning are the available 3G services, such as video calls and video messages. The memory is 32 MB and, unfortunately, is not expandable.
Entertainment and multimedia
Nec E373 offers the possibility of expanding the list of games with the newest ones thanks to support for Java technology for cell phones (J2ME) and the built-in WAP browser. Nec E373, moreover, can perform excellently as a musical entertainer, as it is equipped with a multimedia player capable of playing audio files in MP3 format and video files, even in streaming directly from the internet. The model is fitted with a built-in VGA-type camera, with a maximum image resolution of 640 x 480 pixels, with digital zoom. The device can also record video sequences.
