Motorola XT810 review

Network and connections
Older brother of the XT806, this new Motorola XT810 is also aimed at the Asian market. The network receiver is a GSM Triband, on frequencies of 900, 1800 and 1900 MHz. It also supports UMTS channels. For browsing the Internet it relies on the fast HSDPA modem, unbeatable for mobile telephony. The browser will only have to worry about correctly displaying HTML pages. Also present is the antenna for Wi-Fi networks. Of course, Bluetooth and USB support are not missing either.

Design and features
This model also retains the clamshell body. The front part is in fact made up of a transparent flap that has a protective function. When closed, it allows basic information to be displayed on the screen that remains inside. The latter is a TFT with Resistive Touch Screen technology, usable with the stylus which proves very handy and essential for writing ideograms. The dimensions are slightly larger than direct competitors, with a thickness of 18.6 mm and a weight of 165 grams.

Main features
The platform is Android 2.0, synonymous with speed and ease of use. So on the XT810 you can quickly manage the contacts address book, organizer for appointments, calculator, alarm clock and currency converter. Support for simplified writing really helps a lot when composing text, making it easy to write SMS and MMS, as well as manage E-mail. You can also use Instant Messaging. Support for Chinese text and voice recognition is also present. The CMMB support for Mobile TV is also interesting. The purely telephone-related side, on the other hand, offers speakerphone, voice recorder and support for video calls.

Entertainment and multimedia
The set of features is absolutely complete. In fact, there is a digital camera for taking photos or recording videos at a resolution of a full 5 megapixels, complete with LED Flash. There is also a multimedia player, as well as the possibility of listening to your favorite radio broadcasts thanks to the AM/FM radio receiver, complete with RDS function. You can manage mp3 ringtones, which can also be downloaded from the Internet. Or use the pre-installed games during leisure moments. Also useful is the GPS receiver for integrating satellite functions. The memory available to the user is 128 MB, further expandable with microSD cards up to 32 GB.
