Motorola WX390 review
Network and connections
A user looking for essential phone functions, without a big financial commitment and with plenty of ease of use, will definitely feel at home with this WX390 by Motorola. Network support is GSM Dualband, which guarantees sufficient signal coverage; UMTS mode is not available, however. As for data traffic, a GPRS modem is present. The WAP browser will therefore be able to display web pages. Bluetooth is definitely handy, for exchanging data with compatible devices. There's also a USB cable output.
Design and features
You immediately notice how handy and comfortable to carry in your pocket the phone is. Its dimensions are indeed compact, with a weight of just 83 grams; the Candybar design also allows for a slim thickness, at 12 mm. On the front there's the 1.8-inch display, showing 65,000 colors. On the lower part, instead, you'll find the standard keypad, with function keys for direct access to music functions. The buttons are well spaced and comfortably sized.
Main features
An Entry Level phone is by definition a device that isn't very complex, offering basic but still good-quality functions. That's why the WX390 integrates contact management, calendar and alarm clock with customizable ringtones, as well as the voice side with speakerphone and voice recorder. Motorola's proprietary platform doesn't allow for major functionality expansions, however Java support allows you to install small utilities, so you can partly customize your device. Easy text input helps a lot when composing text, for easily sending SMS and multimedia messages.
Entertainment and multimedia
The Motorola WX390 also offers good tools for leisure time. The digital camera with VGA resolution allows you to take photos when needed. You can also record short videos, to be saved on expandable memory up to 2 GB via microSD cards. The phone also works well as an mp3 player, so you can always have your favorite music with you. Battery life is quite good, lasting up to 470 hours in Stand-by.
