Motorola RIZR review
Network and connections
Motorola RIZR is a cell phone classified as Quad-band, meaning it is capable of receiving and sending calls on four different frequencies: 850, 900, 1800 and 1900 Mhz. This feature guarantees broad network coverage worldwide. This phone is equipped with EDGE and GPRS connectivity for data transfer. Bluetooth technology allows the use of wireless peripherals, such as headsets and hands-free kits, or the exchange of data with other compatible cell phones or computers. USB cable connection is also available.
Design and features
As for appearance, Motorola RIZR is considered a slide-up terminal, meaning it has a sliding opening. It is an elegant and slim model, only 16 mm thick. The antenna is integrated into the body of the case, and therefore does not affect the overall dimensions. The screen is located on the front part of the case: sliding it upward reveals the keyboard, which is also well finished, with alphanumeric keys of medium size.
Main features
Unfortunately, Motorola RIZR does not offer voice recording, nor voice dial. However, alarm clock, calculator, currency converter and organizer functions are available to manage every commitment. Regarding messaging, this phone offers compatibility with all the latest standards: it is in fact possible to receive and send Sms, Ems, Mms and E-mail, each easily composed using the simplified writing software. Memory is 20 MB and is expandable via MicroSD cards.
Entertainment and multimedia
In terms of customization, Motorola RIZR offers 64-tone polyphonic ringtones, Java (J2ME) games that can also be downloaded from the network via the WAP browser. The phone unfortunately lacks an AM/FM radio, but still proves to be a good multimedia entertainer: it is in fact possible to play files in MP3, AAC and AAC+ format for audio, and MP4 and 3GP for video. This model is equipped with an excellent camera, with a 2 MegaPixel sensor, capable of taking remarkably good quality photographs, at a maximum resolution of 1600x1200 pixels. It unfortunately lacks a built-in flash, but this shortcoming is partly offset by the ability to adjust contrast and brightness, features which add to the ability to use digital zoom and video recording.
