Motorola RAZR maxx review
Network and connections
The Maxx model is one of the latest phones in Motorola's successful RAZR range. It is a Tri-Band and Dual Mode device, meaning it is able to operate on three different GSM frequencies: 900, 1800 and 1900 Mhz, as well as on UMTS networks. Thanks to these features, connectivity around the world is not a problem, and indeed, EDGE and GPRS connections are also available for data transfer. Bluetooth technology, moreover, allows the use of wireless peripherals, such as headsets and speakers, and the exchange of data with other compatible phones or PCs. For syncing via cable, a USB port is available instead.
Design and features
In terms of design, Motorola RAZR Maxx falls into the category of phones with a flip or clamshell opening. This particular structure allows for a fairly large display, protected from accidental knocks and scratches. The weight of this model is not particularly low, while what stands out is the extremely thin profile, just 13 mm. The reflective blue body is very attractive, with rounded corners and an integrated antenna.
Main features
Thanks to support for third-generation (3G) services, Motorola RAZR Maxx allows users to take advantage of advanced features, such as video calls and video messages. It is also possible to manage and send Sms, Ems, Mms and E-mail messages. Each format is easily composed thanks to the dedicated predictive text system. In addition, RAZR Maxx offers its users hands-free calling with a built-in speaker. The voice recorder, meanwhile, makes it possible to store audio sequences and conversations. Finally, alarm clock, calculator and organizer functions are also available. The internal memory is 50 MB and can be expanded via MicroSD cards.
Entertainment and multimedia
Motorola RAZR Maxx offers multiple customization options. In fact, it is possible to expand the list of games without compatibility issues, thanks to support for Java (J2ME) technology and the built-in browser. The phone unfortunately lacks a built-in radio but it is equipped with a handy multimedia player. The latter is able to play audio files in MP3 and AAC format and video in MP4 and 3GP format. Motorola RAZR Maxx features an excellent built-in camera, with a sensor boasting a resolution of as much as 2 MegaPixels. It is capable of capturing remarkably high-quality photographs, complete with shot settings adjustment and digital zoom. There is also a second camera, located on the front side of the device, of lower quality and dedicated mainly to video calls.
