Motorola RAZR2 V9x review
Network and connections
We are talking here about the V9x version of the Motorola RAZR2, for now offered by the American carrier AT&T. The features are practically identical to its European sibling, proving to be full of quality. It is in fact a GSM Quadband device, which guarantees excellent reception in every part of the world. It also has the ability to take advantage of UMTS support, thanks to Dual Mode functionality. As for wireless, it is equipped with Bluetooth, but not Wi-Fi support. However, it is possible to connect with other devices via the USB 2.0 cable. Browsing the Web is really convenient and fast, just like with home ADSL, thanks to HSDPA technology for data traffic, together with the built-in modem.
Design and features
The look of the RAZR2 V9x draws heavily on other Motorola models. It in fact features the classic clamshell opening, sturdy and at the same time lightweight thanks to the internal frame made of stainless steel. The weight is also kept down, at just 125 grams, with a maximum thickness of 11.9 mm. This model features 2 LCD screens, both with the same display of 262,000 colors for a resolution of 320x240 pixels. In particular, the external one is equipped with Touch Screen technology. It is important to point out that the materials were studied in the lab to give the device great resistance, especially in the hinge area, built in die-cast aluminum.
Main features
The telephone side is quite complete, with built-in speakerphone, multiconference support and voice recording. Thanks to the Crystal Talk function, it is possible to clean up the sound from any external noise, so as to guarantee excellent voice quality. There are also utilities for managing appointments, such as synchronized agenda and calendar, as well as alarm clock, calculator and currency converter. Support for standard SMS and multimedia messages is not lacking, nor is the sending and receiving of E-mails. The operating system, although proprietary, allows for good customization of the device, thanks to Java support for installing compatible applications.
Entertainment and multimedia
For the entertainment side, the RAZR2 V9x is equipped with a 2 megapixel camera which, thanks to Zoom up to 8X and a built-in Flash device, allows good quality photos and videos to be obtained. The memory available as standard is only 45 MB, but it can be expanded as desired with a microSD card. As for audio, it is possible to use the multiformat Windows Media Player 11 player, to listen to your favorite music at any time. The included 770 mAh battery guarantees operating autonomy of up to about 280 hours in Stand-by.
