LG GW990 review

Network and connections
A super Smartphone, offered by the Korean company LG. This device combines advanced features with high-quality technologies, such as the GSM Quadband receiver. It guarantees optimal signal coverage, also thanks to UMTS support which works in Dual Mode. For browsing the Internet, nothing is faster among portable devices: HSDPA technology for speeds equal to home ADSL. The HTML browser will only have to worry about displaying pages correctly. Furthermore, it is possible to take advantage of distributed networks thanks to the built-in Wi-Fi antenna. Bluetooth and a USB data cable output are also included.

Design and features
The structure of the GW990 is robust and substantial. The front hosts the large screen, a 4.8-inch TFT. It has a WVGA resolution in 16:9 format. It also has Touch Screen technology, for optimal management of features with simple taps on the screen. The thickness of the GW990 is average, at 12 mm, while the weight is a bit more substantial. The edges remain rounded, though, so as to offer a secure grip in every situation.

Main features
The real novelty lies in the platform, newly born and presented for the first time with this device. It is Moorestown MeeGo, developed through the collaboration between Nokia and Intel. Every Business tool is at the user's service: from advanced contact management, to the appointment organizer, as well as multiple alarms and currency converter. Messages and E-mail are always under control. It is also possible to manage Office and PDF documents. Applications such as YouTube, Facebook, Google Maps and many others are always available. Java support also allows the installation of additional software. The phone side, on the other hand, offers hands-free calling, a voice recorder and video conferencing support.

Entertainment and multimedia
An excellent tool for leisure moments too, LG's GW990 has a 5 megapixel digital camera. This resolution allows for always getting perfect images, also thanks to dedicated functions. It is also possible to record short videos. The already present media player is handy for playing plenty of audio and video files. The memory available for personal data is only 512 MB, but it is easily expandable with microSD cards up to 32 GB. Also interesting is the GPS receiver, which integrates satellite functions into the device.
