LG GW880 review
Network and connections
A new Smartphone aimed at the Chinese public, the LG GW880 offers quality solutions for any type of user. This device combines advanced functionality with high-quality technologies, such as the GSM Quadband receiver. It guarantees optimal signal coverage, thanks also to UMTS support working in Dual Mode. For surfing the Internet, nothing is faster among portable devices: HSDPA technology for speeds equal to home ADSL. The HTML browser will take care solely of displaying pages correctly. Bluetooth and the USB data cable output are also present.
Design and features
The structure of the GW880 is sturdy and substantial. The front houses the large display, a 3.5-inch TFT. It has a WVGA resolution in 16:9 format. It also features Touch Screen technology, for optimal management of functions with simple taps on the screen. The precise dimensions are not known, but the structure suggests they are in line with the average of the main competitors. The edges remain rounded regardless, so as to offer a secure grip in any situation.
Main features
The originality lies in the platform. It is Android OPhone OS, installed for the first time on an LG device. Every tool is at the user's service, offering ease without compromise: from advanced contact management, to the appointment organizer, as well as multiple alarms and a currency converter. Messages and E-mail are always under control. It is also possible to manage Office and PDF documents. Applications such as YouTube, Facebook, Google Maps and many others are always available. Java support also allows the installation of additional software. The presence of the TV tuner is interesting. On the telephone side, it offers speakerphone, voice recorder and videoconferencing support.
Entertainment and multimedia
Also an excellent tool for leisure moments, LG's GW880 has a 5 megapixel digital camera. This resolution always allows perfect images to be obtained, thanks also to dedicated functions. It is also possible to record short videos. The multimedia player already included is handy for playing plenty of audio and video files. The memory available for personal data is only 256 MB, but easily expandable with microSD cards up to 32 GB. Also interesting is the GPS receiver, integrating satellite functions into the device.
