LG GU280 review
Network and connections
A young and affordably priced phone, dedicated to a female audience. The network receiver is a Quadband GSM, on frequencies of 850, 900, 1800 and 1900 MHz. UMTS support allows for increased network capability, making it possible to take advantage of advanced services as well. To browse the Internet, you can use the internal modem with GPRS/EDGE technology. The HTML browser will simply take care of correctly displaying Web pages. Bluetooth is handy for exchanging files with other devices, while the USB data output allows you to sync the device with your home PC.
Design and features
A colorful and youthful style, suited to undemanding yet dynamic contexts. At first glance, the bright color and the simple, soft lines make an immediate impression. The rounded edges help a lot with grip, also thanks to the compact dimensions: 14.9 mm thick and 105 grams in weight. The front houses the 2-inch TFT screen, capable of displaying up to 256,000 colors. Just below is the clickable directional pad, along with the function keys for managing the device. The standard alphanumeric keyboard, on the other hand, is found inside, thanks to the vertical Slider opening.
Main features
A phone with simple and essential features, yet still capable of offering complete management applications, such as phonebook, organizer, alarm clock and calculator. Java support allows you to install compatible software, so you can better customize your device. Support for predictive text is handy for quickly managing SMS, multimedia messages and E-mail. As for the purely telephone-related aspects, you'll find the built-in speakerphone, voice recorder and multi-conference support. It's also possible to make video calls.
Entertainment and multimedia
A simple phone, but one still able to offer features dedicated to leisure moments as well. The digital camera allows you to take photographs up to 1.3 megapixel resolution. You can also record short videos, to be stored in the 20 MB memory, further expandable with microSD up to 8 GB. This way, you can also carry audio and video files with you, to be played back with the dedicated multimedia player. There's also an AM/FM radio tuner, for listening to your favorite radio stations. Lastly, the battery life is good, lasting up to 331 hours in Stand-by.
