i-Mate Ultimate 7150 review

Network and connections
i-Mate specializes in Smartphone devices oriented towards Business use. For this reason the Ultimate 7150 is equipped with state-of-the-art network support: GSM Triband and also UMTS, with the possibility of use in Dual Mode. For data traffic instead it is equipped with HSDPA technology, so as to browse the Web at high speeds up to 1.5 Mbps. With Bluetooth, or also through the IrDa port, it is instead possible to exchange files with other devices. And to synchronize with a PC the USB 2.0 cable is handy. Furthermore this Smartphone is equipped with Wi-Fi support to easily connect to distributed networks.

Design and equipment
The Ultimate 8150 has a book-opening structure similar to the Nokia Communicator, in which the lines have been very carefully designed, to express simplicity and elegance. The extended QWERTY keyboard on the inside offers all the keys as on a PC, making its use practical and comfortable; a small joystick also helps in navigating on the display. The internal Touch Screen display is very wide, and displays up to 256,000 colors. On the external front there is also a secondary 2.2-inch OLED display. The purchase kit is also quite rich: leather and fabric case, USB cable, stereo headset and also a cable for video output.

Main features
A wide range of choices also in the operation of this Smartphone. The classic messaging functions are not missing, with SMS and multimedia messages. Or address book, calendar and agenda, client support for managing E-mail, as well as multiconference and video calling thanks to the front camera. The platform is Windows Mobile 6 Professional and therefore allows great margins of customization, as well as the Office package to manage documents. Power is guaranteed by the 520 MHz Intel Bulverde processor together with 128 MB of RAM memory. Also very relevant is the support for direct VGA video output, which allows an external screen to be connected directly to the Ultimate 7150.

Entertainment and multimedia
Complete as far as business applications are concerned, it also proves excellent for leisure. A 2 megapixel camera takes good quality pictures, also thanks to the 4X Zoom and built-in Flash. Favorite videos and music are always in your pocket, with the Windows Media Player player supporting various formats. This is also thanks to the large memory, 128 MB standard with the possibility of expansion with microSD cards. Or also the AM/FM receiver, for listening to news and radio broadcasts in real time.
