HTC MTeoR review
Network and connections
HTC MteoR is a smartphone packed with features, equipped with a Samsung processor running at 300 Mhz. The memory capacity is in line with the category average: 64 MB of RAM and 128MB of flash ROM. HTC MteoR is a Quad-band smartphone (GSM 850/900/1800/1900) with EDGE and GPRS support. It is also a Dual mode terminal, capable of taking advantage of the potential of the UMTS network, with a considerable bandwidth. Unfortunately, the device does not support the Wi-Fi communication protocol, while Bluetooth technology allows files to be exchanged and numerous dedicated wireless accessories to be used. On the outside there are various connection ports: there is the USB connector, the one for the AC/DC adapter, and the headphone jack. MteoR is equipped with a 1190 mAh lithium battery that guarantees good battery life.
Design and accessories
The design of HTC MteoR is compact, not particularly innovative. The slightly squared lines enclose a slim body, black with Silver colored inserts and with the display's chrome-plated edge. The weight is rather contained: 120 grams including the supplied battery. Its overall dimensions, on the other hand, are: 112.4 millimeters in height, 49 millimeters in width, and only 14.8 mm in thickness. The antenna, moreover, being integrated, does not affect the device's handling. MteoR has a standard keypad, like those of cell phones, which does not allow the user to easily write long texts and e-mail messages on the go. Finally, the accessory package is sufficiently complete, including, in addition to the case, the power adapter, the USB sync and charging cable, the headset with microphone, manuals, and CD-ROM. The software package, on the other hand, includes an organizer, calculator, audio recorder, and alarm clock.
Main features
The software "heart" of the device is the Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0 Smartphone Edition operating system, accompanied by several applications in "Mobile" versions. Already installed are Internet Explorer, Outlook, Windows Live Messenger, Microsoft Pictures, Adobe Reader LE, ActiveSync, and the ClearVue suite for viewing and using MS Office files. This smartphone allows the use of SMS, MMS, and E-mail messages (with attachments), also taking advantage of the "DirectPush" system for synchronization and immediate reception of content present on the server. The memory expansion slot, finally, allows the use of MicroSD cards.
Entertainment and multimedia
Polyphonic ringtones are supported, and in addition, the smartphone comes with Windows Media Player already installed, the software that allows playing and managing audio files in MP3, AAC, WAV, and WMA format, as well as video clips in MP4, 3GP, and WMV format. Completing the picture is the handy built-in speaker, also useful for hands-free conversations. HTC MteoR integrates a mid-range digital camera, capable of capturing good quality images. It has a sensor with a resolution of 1.3 Megapixels, which allows reaching a maximum definition of 1280x1024 pixels. The camera is also equipped with digital zoom, as well as numerous color effects, and offers the ability to record video sequences. Unfortunately, the internal camera that is usually dedicated to video calls in 3G terminals is missing.
