Network and connections
HTC enters the market with a product exclusive to Vodafone. This is the Magic Android, equipped with Google's operating system. But let's start by describing its technical characteristics. This is a GSM Quadband device, capable of delivering incredible reliability in network coverage. This is also thanks to UMTS support, which allows the Magic to work in Dual Mode. Of course, optimization for browsing the Web is not missing, thanks to the fast HSDPA modem and the HTML browser. In addition, it is possible to connect to distributed networks thanks to Wi-Fi support. Naturally, support for connecting to other devices is not missing either, such as Bluetooth and the USB 2.0 cable.
Design and features
Visually, this Smartphone immediately appears out of the ordinary, completely white, with simple and well-studied lines. Everything seems to convey reliability and durability, ergonomics and ease of use. The upper part is occupied by the display, a 3.2-inch TFT, capable of displaying up to 65,000 colors. Just below are dedicated keys for Internet functions, also convenient for managing the device thanks to the trackball. The dimensions are fairly compact, 13.7 mm thick with a weight of 118.5 grams. For writing, there is no physical keyboard, but a virtual one appears on the screen. In the sales package we can find the earphones.
Main features
The HTC Magic is geared toward Web browsing; that's why every key, the menus, and the features offered all point back to the Internet. In fact, the classic Google services are available, such as Google Maps, YouTube, Google Talk for instant conversations, and many other applications. The basic package for the Web is Google Webkit Browser, lightweight and stable for browsing without compromises. Of course, basic features such as a contacts directory and appointment calendar are not missing. It is also possible to download new Open Source software directly from the network, to better customize your own Magic. The operating system is therefore Android, managed by the high-performance 528 MHz Qualcomm processor. The voice aspect, on the other hand, offers hands-free speaker, voice recorder, and support for video calling.
Entertainment and multimedia
To make the HTC Magic truly exciting, the designers equipped it with a 3.2 megapixel camera, capable of delivering excellent quality photographs. It can count on dedicated functions such as autofocus, zoom, and image adjustment. The 192 MB RAM memory allows for good storage capacity; however, for the more demanding users, it is possible to use microSD cards for expansion. There is also a multimedia player, so you can always have your favorite music or videos with you. In addition, the Magic is equipped with a GPS receiver, to be used as a satellite navigator. All of this can be enjoyed thanks to a long battery life, 420 hours in Stand-by.
