Eten P300 review
The P300 is the first PDA to have the size of a cell phone, the performance of a latest-generation cell phone, and also all the power of Windows Mobile 2003-based PDAs, thus achieving an innovative combination of power and functionality that to date has no other competitors on the world market. 32 MB of Flash memory, 32 MB of additional Flash memory (Disk on Chip), 64 MB of NAND RAM memory, and the MMS Composer program in English for the transmission and reception of MMS on Italian operators' networks. Through the supplied synchronization cradle, or an optional cable, it is possible to connect USB peripherals such as mice, keyboards, and Flash memories to the P300, since this PDA supports USB Host mode; in the future, the number of compatible peripherals is set to increase since the USB Host specification is one of the new features of Windows Mobile 2003 and manufacturers are only now beginning to develop the appropriate drivers. With MMS Composer it is possible to create and receive Multimedia Message Services (or MMS) as if they were normal SMS messages or emails; thanks to the integrated editors, the user can edit or create images and sound files, while the multimedia objects received can be stored in the PDA's folders for later use. PhotoCapture is Eten's application for taking photographs with the camera, also making use of special functions such as creative effects and frames. MultimediaManager allows you to keep control of the images and audio files present in the PDA's memory; for audio, a single tap starts playback, while for images, a single tap opens the preview with the operating system's "Pictures" application. Backup Utility offers the possibility of creating a backup copy of just the data (Contacts, Calendar, Notes, etc.) or of all the information in RAM, and the presence of the 32 MB Disk On Chip is ideal for storing backup files; thanks to this, the user can restore their configuration, programs, and information even in the event of a hard reset or complete battery drain, without having to purchase an additional SD memory card.
