BlackBerry Storm 9530 review
The first BlackBerry device with a Touch Screen display. A Business Smartphone with features that make it very well suited to any context. The technical specifications are notable, with a Quadband GSM receiver, on the 850, 900, 1800 and 1900 MHz frequencies. This allows for consistently excellent signal quality, also thanks to Dual Mode support to take advantage of UMTS networks. The Internet is within easy reach with the RIM wireless modem, which uses HSDPA technology for fast packet data traffic. HTML pages are thus opened very quickly by the browser. In addition, it is possible to use Bluetooth to connect to other devices, or the USB data cable.
Design and features
The first visual impact with the BlackBerry Storm 9530 gives a sense of importance and elegance. The chrome trim on the edges highlights the soft yet decisive lines, for an important sense of compactness. The front is entirely occupied by the screen, an LCD with a resolution of 480x360 pixels, displaying up to 65,000 colors. The images are stunning, with vivid colors that are perfect for enjoying your favorite movies as well. The display features Touch Screen technology, which allows total freedom in managing the device. In addition, the surface is clickable, enhancing the feel of the touch. Just below are 4 function keys. The sales package includes the data cable, the headset and an 8 GB microSD card.
Main features
The capabilities offered by this Smartphone are extensive, catering to every type of need. There are the classic management tools optimized for Business users, such as the agenda and organizer. There is also the alarm clock and the document reader for the most common portable formats. The on-screen keyboard allows you to use the SureType function to easily write messages, from simple SMS to more demanding E-mails. In fact, it is possible to manage various e-mail accounts, so you can have your office at your fingertips. The voice section offers an excellent speakerphone, a voice recorder and multi-conference support. In addition, it is possible to make video conference calls. The only flaw of the Storm 9530, as with the 9500 version for that matter, is a noticeable slowness in opening applications and navigating through the menus.
Entertainment and multimedia
Plenty of attention is also given to entertainment features. The 3.2 megapixel rear camera allows you to take good quality photographs at any time. It is supported by digital Zoom and Flash; it is also possible to record videos. The RAM memory is 128 MB, reduced compared to the Storm 9500 to make room for a more complete operating system. However, microSD cards allow for expansion as needed. This way, you don't have to give anything up, always carrying all your favorite music with you, to be played with the media player. In addition, various video formats are also supported. The Storm 9530 also has a GPS receiver, which makes it a true satellite navigator thanks to the BlackBerry Maps software. A device of this type also stands out for its battery life, up to 15 days in Stand-by mode.
