BenQ Siemens SL91 review
Network and connections
Benq Siemens SL91 falls among Tri-Band cell phones, meaning it is able to receive and make calls on three different GSM frequencies: 900, 1800 and 1900 Mhz. This phone, moreover, being a Dual Mode device, also uses the UMTS network. It therefore offers 3G, EDGE and GPRS data connectivity. As for short-range connections, Bluetooth connectivity and a USB cable connection to computers are available. The display is large and well defined: it measures 240x320 pixels at 16 million colors. The battery provided ensures 310 hours of standby time and about 3 hours of talk time.
Design and features
Benq Siemens SL91 belongs to the category of cell phones with a sliding opening, or slide-up. Its dimensions are fairly compact: it is 89 millimeters long, 47 mm wide and 23 mm thick. The grip is made ergonomic by the rounded lines, which also give it an elegant look. The antenna is built into the body of the phone, so it does not affect the overall dimensions. The weight is rather significant: 109 grams. The keypad is comfortable.
Main features
During a call, Benq Siemens SL91 offers its users the possibility of using the speakerphone function, thanks to the built-in speaker. If instead you want to have a conversation with several terminals connected simultaneously, you can use the multiconference feature. Thanks to UMTS technology, it is also possible to make use of third-generation services, such as video calls and video messages. As for messaging, it is possible to receive and send SMS, EMS, MMS and E-mail, each easily composed thanks to the simplified writing system. Finally, the alarm clock, calculator and organizer functions are, of course, included. Memory is 64 MB, expandable via MicroSD cards.
Entertainment and multimedia
Benq Siemens SL91 offers its users polyphonic ringtones, screensavers and Java games (J2ME). It is also possible to download new content from the network through the WAP browser. The phone is equipped with an AM/FM radio, as well as a multimedia player, compatible with music files in MP3, AAC format and MP4 and 3GP video files. Benq Siemens SL91 is fitted with a higher-end camera: it boasts a sensor resolution of 3.2 MegaPixels, and is able to take excellent quality photographs, making use, when needed, of digital zoom or various adjustments.
