Alcatel OT-208 review

Network and connections
The OT-208 is the ideal phone for those who want practicality and functionality, without too much of an economic commitment. An excellent companion in everyday life, with its Dualband GSM receiver that guarantees good network coverage, on frequencies of 900 and 1800 MHz. However, it is not equipped with further network support; GPRS and UMTS are therefore missing. As for connecting with other devices, it is possible to use the output for the USB data cable, to also sync with the home PC. Bluetooth, on the other hand, is not available.

Design and features
Alcatel OT-208 catches the eye right away, with its simple two-tone casing. The keyboard with its essential shapes is comfortable for typing text, thanks to keys that are thin but well spaced apart. The edges are rounded, so as to guarantee a more secure grip and handling without compromises. The dimensions are truly compact, 14.5 mm thick for just 60 grams of weight. The screen is absolutely essential, a CSTN at 128x128 pixels capable of displaying up to 65,000 colors. The phone is also equipped with a battery that lasts up to 400 hours in Stand-by.

Main features
The platform is from the manufacturer, already supplied in standard configuration with basic functionality. However, Java support is not present, which would allow small applications and games to be installed, to expand the functionality of this Alcatel. When receiving a call, profiles with vibration can be set, useful especially in private situations. With the OT-208 it is possible to send and receive SMS, but not multimedia messages and E-mail. Easy writing with T9 proves to be an excellent ally for quickly composing text.

Entertainment and multimedia
This phone with simple features has been designed as an excellent tool for making phone calls, but not for personal entertainment. The digital camera is in fact at basic VGA resolution, resulting in poor image quality. The multimedia player for audio and video files is missing. However, simple pre-installed games can be used, to fill a break time in an entertaining way. There is also an AM/FM radio tuner, so you can listen to your favorite stations.
