Alcatel One Touch 708 MINI review
Network and connections
An easy and undemanding phone presented by Alcatel. The 708 Mini offers advanced technical features while keeping costs low. First of all, it is a GSM Dualband, on 900 and 1800 MHz frequencies. UMTS support is not present, however advanced network features can be exploited thanks to the GPRS modem. It also allows you to comfortably browse the Internet, opening pages through the dedicated WAP browser. To exchange data with compatible devices, Bluetooth comes in handy instead. Or again it is possible to connect directly to the PC via the USB cable.
Design and features
The compactness and reduced dimensions make the One Touch 708 Mini a very portable phone without compromise. The thickness of 14.6 mm and the weight of just 82 grams really help a lot toward this purpose. The lines are simple and rounded, to offer greater ergonomics in gripping the Candybar body. The front hosts the large screen, a 2.4-inch TFT capable of displaying up to 256,000 colors. It is also equipped with Touch Screen technology, which allows you to manage every operation at its best with simple taps on the screen. The bright colors help give it a fun and young feel.
Main features
Alcatel's proprietary platform always offers complete and easy-to-use functions. Here then are phonebook, appointment calendar, alarm clock, calculator and stopwatch. In addition, Java support allows you to install small utilities, in order to better customize your device. Widgets and Touch Sensitive keys allow you to manage everything easily and intuitively, together with the accelerometer for automatic rotation of images on the screen. Simplified writing helps a lot in composing messages, allowing you to quickly manage SMS, multimedia messages and E-mail. The telephone side offers speakerphone, voice recorder and multi-conference support.
Entertainment and multimedia
To complete the offer, the 708 Mini offers the possibility of taking photographs through the dedicated rear camera. It has a resolution of 1.3 megapixels, which delivers acceptable quality images with also the possibility of recording short videos. The memory in standard configuration is only 5 MB, decidedly little for saving a quantity of files. Fortunately it is expandable up to 4 GB via microSD cards. In this way it will therefore also be possible to always carry your favorite music and videos with you, to be played through the multimedia player. Finally, battery life is good, lasting up to 350 hours in Stand-by.
