Alcatel One Touch 383 review

Network and connections
A common feature of all Alcatel devices is certainly their good quality at affordable costs. The network receiver is GSM Dualband, able to operate on the 900 and 1800 MHz frequencies. Signal quality is fairly good, although only at a local level. As for wireless, you can use Bluetooth to exchange files with other compatible devices. There is also a USB 2.0 data cable output, so you can also sync with your home PC. Internet connection, on the other hand, is guaranteed by the internal modem, with GPRS packet traffic management. The dedicated WAP browser then allows pages to be displayed.

Design and features
The lines are simple but still well cared for. On the front is the display, a TFT 128x160 pixel screen, with images up to 65,000 colors. The case opens with a vertical Slider mechanism, with good quality materials used. Inside you then find the standard numeric keypad. To interact with the various functions you use the directional pad together with the dedicated keys, always present on the front, just below the screen. The sales package contains the essentials: battery charger, user manual and the convenient earphones.

Main features
From a low-end phone you can't expect high-level operation. However, the basic features are complete and practical to use. Starting with the address book for contacts, or the agenda for organizing your appointments, the calendar and the alarm clock. There is also a calculator and a currency converter. For the voice sector, on the other hand, you can count on the built-in speakerphone, the voice recorder and support for multi-conferencing. Writing messages is convenient, so you can best manage SMS and multimedia messages. As already mentioned, the proprietary platform doesn't leave much room for major expansions, although you can add small compatible utilities.

Entertainment and multimedia
One point in favor of the Alcatel One Touch 383 is certainly its music functionality. In fact, it works well as an mp3 player, so you can always have your favorite music on hand. Internal memory is only 2 MB, but it can easily be expanded via microSD type cards. There is also a camera with a resolution of 0.3 megapixel VGA. Image quality isn't amazing, but you can still take a few photos or record short videos when needed, also relying on the Zoom and self-timer functions. The 650 mAh battery also guarantees good autonomy: up to 350 hours in Stand-by.
