Acer n311 review
The company from Taiwan continues to stand by its project marked by the letter "n" and high-fidelity multimedia. This time it tries its hand with the n311. More work has been put into making the handheld slightly smaller but with an even slightly larger display. Evolution in style while still guaranteeing the content that has made this company well known.
Design and features
Having abandoned the chrome inserts for darker tones, this time the color black prevails overall, though the ultra-compact shapes remain unchanged. If Acer's intent was to thrill by putting so much technology into such a refined shape that fits in one hand, they have succeeded brilliantly! The operating system is entrusted to Microsoft with its Windows Mobile 5 Premium Edition, and the CPU unit is provided by Samsung SC32440 at 400 MHz (which greatly limits power consumption). A screen that is uncommon for handhelds of this generation, a full 3.7'' with a resolution of 240 x 360 pixels at 65,536 colors. Compact dimensions (110 x 70 x 13.7 mm) and reduced weight (135gr.) are the same ones Acer has already accustomed us to with similar models. In the power department we find an easily removable 1200 mAh lithium-ion battery. It boasts dual wireless connectivity (Bluetooth 1.2 and Wi-Fi 802.11b) and, compared to its predecessors, a full 128MB of memory. Another new feature is represented by two USB interfaces (client and host). A navigation stylus and an SD/MMCard slot with I/O functions are also included.
Main features
In addition to the features already common to previous models, the Windows Mobile 5.0 system allows the use of a whole range of latest-release programs such as: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook (Inbox, Contacts, Calendar, Tasks), the Internet Explorer browser, Windows Media Player 10, ActiveSync, MSN Messenger, Microsoft Office and Microsoft Reader. Enabled for SMS, MMS and EMS.
Entertainment and multimedia
The ability to download ringtones, images and games from the network, and also worth noting is the ability to use the Windows Media Player, which can support files in the AMR, AAC, WAV, WMA and MP3 formats. Infrared connection protocols (IRDA), integrated Bluetooth (1.2) technology.
