Acer DX650 review
Network and connections
Initially released on the American market, the Acer DX650 features a rare design. It is in fact a Double Face Smartphone. But let's first talk about the technical features. The network receiver is a Triband GSM, on frequencies of 900, 1800 and 1900 MHz. The readiness to get onto the Web is high; there is in fact a modem with HSDPA technology. But it is also possible to take advantage of distributed networks, thanks to the built-in Wi-Fi antenna. In this way the HTML browser will only have to worry about displaying pages correctly. Also convenient is Bluetooth for exchanging files with other devices.
Design and features
As already mentioned, the DX650 features a decidedly unusual style. On one side it shows the large QVGA Touch Screen display, capable of displaying up to 65,000 colors. Just below are two function keys for managing the device. On the back side instead there is a second display, this time OLED at 128x96 pixels. Below it there is a standard alphanumeric keyboard. In short, a phone to be used either way. The dimensions, however, are generous, with a thickness of 15.6 mm and a weight of 133 grams.
Main features
Like a true handheld computer, this Acer device is equipped with the Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional platform. This guarantees excellent application completeness and high compatibility with any additional software. Thanks to Java support it is in fact possible to install programs as desired, to best personalize your own device. Predictive text support helps with composing text, to better manage even work E-mails. The Office and PDF document viewer therefore allows you to manage attachments as well. Network contacts are always at hand, thanks to Instant Messaging. For phone functions there are speakerphone, voice recorder and multi-conference support.
Entertainment and multimedia
A complete and good-level device, this Double Face by Acer. The digital camera has a resolution of 2 megapixels, not excessive but still enough to take photographs when needed, as well as record short videos. Memory is expandable via microSD cards, so you can store your favorite audio and video files. These will be played back by the dedicated Windows Media Player. In addition there is the GPS receiver, to integrate satellite functionality. Battery life is a bit limited, explainable by the presence of two displays and the high power consumption of this device. Battery life is in fact 150 Hours in Stand-by.
